It was built in 1859 to protect the Camargue from marine intrusion. Exchanges between the sea and the ponds take place through valves.
This trail is accessible by bike, on foot or by horse.
It is an unmissable place in the heart of the National Reserve for nature lovers and hikers (24 km back and forth). After the lighthouse you can continue to Beauduc and Salin de Giraud.
This dam isolates the Rhone river delta from the sea, you can see amazing wild landscapes and beautiful marshes where you can see seabirds and flamingo.
endless
beaches
«We went to the lighthouse before going to eat in a village restaurant with the family. We were amazed by these immense beaches along the trail. The children enjoyed the birds watching, and especially pink flamingos.»
