"100 ans de la Croix de Camargue : l'invention d'un symbole"

Elle retrace l’histoire de la croix depuis sa conception en 1924 jusqu'à aujourd'hui, au travers d’objets et de photographies d’importance historique, notamment ceux de la collection Barbanson, famille qui forgea la toute première croix gardiane. L’exposition explique en quoi cette croix est devenue un modèle pour toute une région et plus encore.
De nombreux habitants des Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer et les amoureux de la région camarguaise ont également participé à cette exposition, afin de mettre en lumière ce symbole, en prêtant ou donnant leurs objets si diversifiés et parfois précieux, allant d'œuvres artistiques aux magnets de réfrigérateur. Ces actes reflètent parfaitement le marqueur identitaire et culturel qu'inspire la croix de Camargue. Merci à tous les participants.
